* This project was completed prior to the inception of Engage. Photographs were taken with a Blackberry phone so they are lacking in high resolution and clarity. Intent is to show the scope of the project from start to finish.
This project came together once again as a budget project. Some of the items were purchased by the client and some by our staff.
The project started out when the client could no longer utilize the existing bathroom. The sink faucet no longer worked and the shower valve was shot. The space was tired and was a prime candidate for sprucing up.
The client wanted simple and nothing too fancy. The overall theme was "clean" so we stuck with black & white. The other elements of the project were reuse of primarily the large mirror as it proved to be the only feasible item to be reusable.
On the walls we selected a fine orange peel texture covered with a snow white paint. The flooring that was selected for the space was a white satin finish 12" x 12" porcelain tile laid in a staggered pattern. It gave visual interest to the small space and also deviated from the pattern that the client was used to for so many years.
The countertop that was used in this project was a black solid surface material with integral solid surface sinks bowls in white. Brushed nickel plumbing fixtures were also chosen for this space to give it a smooth feel which also complimented the overall feel of the space.
The client also made a special request that the mirror be reused if possible. The reasoning was that the mirror was so large that it would be very expensive to replace. Additionally they liked the amount of visibility the mirror provided in the space. The mirror was retained and to give the old mirror a new feel we built a custom oak frame around it to tie in with the trim work around the window.
Overall the project was a success and provided the client with a more modern space without breaking the bank.
